‘Mimi’ Eva Jirankova

Eva Jirankova led a privileged life in Prague before the Nazi invasion. However in 1942 her husband Miloš Jiránek, a prominent Czech cultural figure, was arrested and imprisoned in a concentration camp. He survived nearly three years of incarceration and a four month death march. Eva speaks about this in this testimony.

Walter Kammerling fled Nazi-occupied Austria on the Kindertransport in 1939. In this moving interview with Dr Katy Radford from the Institute for Conflict Research, Walter reflects on his time in Northern Ireland, at Millisle Farm. Zigi Shipper BEM

Zigi Shipper was a survivor of the Holocaust. As a child, he experienced the Łódź Ghetto and several camps including Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was liberated after surviving a death march and came to England. Up until his death in 2023, Zigi spoke to thousands of students in schools across the UK, and was committed to sharing his story and teaching the dangers of hatred.
