Our Chief Executive, Olivia Marks-Woldman OBE, and our Director of Public Engagement and Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Rachel Century, recently returned from a visit to Rwanda. The trip was organised by Aegis Trust and Ishami Foundation, who also accompanied Olivia and Rachel as they visited memorials and significant sites of the genocide. In our blog, Rachel shares some of the photos she took during her time in Rwanda, and reflects on what they say about the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda – before, during and after it took place.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We share in the deep shock felt across the country, and around the world, as well as the gratitude felt by so many for her service to the nation.

A survivor of the Holocaust and teacher educating about genocide have been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in recognition of their contribution to Holocaust and genocide education.

Today we launched the Generations: Portraits of Holocaust Survivors online exhibition. The exhibition, previously on display at Imperial War Museums London, features over 50 contemporary portraits from 13 esteemed photographers, including HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the lives that survivors of the Holocaust and recent genocides have built in the UK during her reign, we hosted a special tea party for Holocaust and genocide survivors.

Over 200 people from across the UK joined us online yesterday for the launch of the new theme for HMD 2023.
