Scotland marks HMD 2023

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 in Scotland, we partnered with Edinburgh Interfaith Association to produced this short film. The film is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Holocaust, the Nazi persecution of other groups, and in more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, and is suitable for schools, families and communities to watch as part of a Holocaust Memorial Day activity.

Wales marks HMD 2023

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 in Wales, the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council produced an online service which you can watch here. The service is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Holocaust, the Nazi persecution of other groups, and in more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, and is suitable for schools, families and communities to watch as part of a Holocaust Memorial Day activity.

People from across the UK came together to watch the UK Online Commemoration for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2023 and Light the Darkness against prejudice and hatred.

Northern Ireland marks HMD 2023

On 24 January the Northern Ireland Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) ceremony, attended by over 300 people, took place at Belfast City Hall. The ceremony is available for people from Northern Ireland and elsewhere to view and provides an exploration of the theme of this year’s HMD, Ordinary People, from the perspective of personal and written testimony of Holocaust and genocide survivors.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer have joined commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the first public announcement by the British Government of the Nazis’ attempt to murder Europe’s Jewish population. Both Mr. Sunak and Sir Keir were in the chamber for a moment of silence led by Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons.

We worked with the British photographer, publisher and film director Rankin for the [Extra]Ordinary Portraits competition in advance of Holocaust Memorial Day 2023. Rankin’s [Extra]Ordinary Portraits focusses the photographer’s lens on ordinary people who survived genocide.
