To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2024, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) would like to invite you to an event exploring the impact of two genocides of the mid 1990s that shocked the world.
Speakers will reflect and remember the Rwandan genocide of 1994, when approximately one million Tutsis and Hutus were murdered in just 100 days;
and in Srebrenica, Bosnia when 8,000 Muslim men were murdered by Bosnian Serb troops and paramilitaries led by Ratko Mladić in 1995.
Lesley Carroll and Peter Osborne will examine attempts to pursue reconciliation and remind us of the need to be vigilant and prepared to guard against genocide happening again in the future.
