HMD Jersey takes place in the Occupation Tapestry Gallery on the New North Quay. This year's guest speaker is Smajo Beŝo, founder of the Bosnian Genocide Educational Trust. The Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev Mike Keirle, will give the Closing Address. Following the ceremony, wreaths shall be laid outside at the Lighthouse Memorial, which remembers Islanders who were imprisoned in Jersey and Europe by the occupying German forces in the Second World War, in particular the 21 who died in the German prison and camp system. Wreaths shall also be laid in memory of victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution, including slave and forced workers brought in to fortify the Island, Jersey's LGBTQ+ community, the families of the 21, Jersey Mencap, the Island's church communities, Ukrainians and Poles in Jersey, Royal British Legion and wartime internees and evacuees - and many more. In addition, Smajo Beŝo will deliver a public talk at the Jersey Arts Centre and lead workshops in secondary schools.
