The Lincoln Council for Christians and Jews will be commemorating the 2024 Holocaust Memorial Day on Sunday 28th January at 3.00 pm in Bailgate Methodist Church, Lincoln.

This event is supported by Lincoln InterFaith and Churches Together in Lincoln and District. Our 2024 memorial event is hosted by the Lincoln Council for Christians and Jews, and features Simcha - Lincoln’s Klezmer Band in the concert documentary ‘Kindertransport.’ A voluntary retiring collection will be taken for Safe Passage International.
This charity endeavours to ensure the rights of every person: the right to be safe: safe to be with their family: and safe to rebuild their lives in a world where all people who need it do have that safe passage to a place of safety, family, and justice.

On this day we remember six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and others killed in more recent persecutions, genocides and wars.
This year we also grieve for innocent victims, particularly children, who have suffered and died in Israel, Palestine and Ukraine.
Our theme comes from the diary of a child reflecting on the invasion of the Netherlands in 1940.
Anne Frank, who later died in a Concentration Camp, wrote: “That is when the trouble started for the Jews. Our freedom was severely restricted by a series of anti-Jewish decrees.”
In our concert we also remember the ordinary men and women who did what they could to provide a safe passage to freedom for Jewish children by organising the ‘Kindertransport.’
