Prior to this event, every single pupil in the school will be taking part in a lesson to commemorate HMD. The lesson will focus on this year's theme, 'Fragility of Freedom.' Pupils will be asked to create a paper bubble and on that bubble they were to write a personal freedom that they have and currently enjoy. This encourages our young people to reflect on so many individuals who had their freedoms taken away from them. Our Senior Ambassadors will use these individual bubbles to create our wall display for this year - which is going to be a rainbow. This was selected as a symbol of hope.

Invited guests from our wider school community including guests from North Lanarkshire Council, local charities and community based initiatives and local religious leaders, will be invited to attend our annual HMD event. Our Senior S5-S6 Holocaust Education Ambassadors are leading this event. There will be a presentation which will include information, poetry and musical pieces. At this event, guests will be given bubbles. The bubbles will have a tag on them with information about an individual who was affected by the Holocaust and personal freedoms they enjoyed in pre-war life. After the presentation, the pupils will take the guests outside and ask guests to think about the individual person they have been given and also consider their own personal freedoms. Pupils will try and link the individuals to guests where possible based on interests. Pupils will then say their own freedom and blow their bubble. Each guest will be asked to do the same while thinking about the 'Fragility of Freedom' as the bubbles burst and disappear in the air.

'Somewhere over the Rainbow' will play as a reminder that we must commemorate to ensure the Holocaust never happens again and to have hope for a better future, free from hatred.
