Starting on 22nd January P6 & 7 pupils will listen to a presentation on what and why we remember on Holocaust Memorial Day.
After a general introduction we will be speaking about Freedom, the ways in which ordinary people lost their lost their rights to various freedoms during the war and which part of their freedom the children would not want to lose.

Every morning that week we will be reading from Tom Palmer's book After the War.
We will show the children photographs from a staff visit to Auschwitz to aid them in visualising what it was like.
On Friday 26th January all children will be offered a candle to take home to light with their family the following evening.

We also plan to stream the film 'One Life', when it is available, to show that although these children were saved from the war and the camps they lost their freedom to live with their families in their country of birth.
Our choir are also learning the The Peat Bog Soldier and The Partisan's songs to sing at our school assembly and when they visit local community groups.
