Ben, who is featured in our film, survived the Holocaust, but both of his parents were murdered. As a 15 year old orphan he settled in the UK, and later represented his adopted country at the Olympic Games.

Var was working as an English Teacher in Phnom Penh at the start of the Genocide in Cambodia and endured slave labour under the Khmer Rouge regime. She escaped to a refugee camp and was eventually resettled in the UK.
