One Day competition: Terms and Conditions

Please see below for an outline of the terms and conditions of our photography competition. Any entries which do not comply with the terms set out below will be disqualified.

  1. All entrants must be aged 25 years old or under.
  2. Photographs should be submitted via our online form (hosted by Award Force) by 11.59pm on Sunday 5 December 2021.
  3. All submissions must be from individuals or groups based in the United Kingdom. Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) will only select images from within the UK for the exhibition.
  4. Photographs must have been created by the group or individual responsible for the submission.
  5. Any artworks or photographs of artworks may be used and shared, in perpetuity, by HMDT for future materials or media work. This includes digital use and in print. Photographs may be cropped or edited for these purposes.
  6. Images will remain the property of the group or individual submitting, however HMDT will own copyright of the One Day exhibition in perpetuity.
  7. By submitting photographs with people in them, participants are confirming that permissions have been given by any individuals in the photo for it to be shared by HMDT. If the individuals in the photo are under 18, permissions will have been obtained by the photographer from their parents or carers prior to the submission of photographs. It is the photographer’s responsibility to ensure that the people in their photographs are aware of the T&Cs for the purpose and use of the photographs (e.g. that the photos may be shared on social media and in print).
  8. All data that you have shared with us during this project will be stored in line with HMDT’s Privacy Policy.
  9. HMDT will select at least 30 winning images based on the selection criteria described on the competition web page and the downloadable Creative Guidance resource. Five images will be selected from these 30 to receive an Instax Mini camera and a pack of Instax Mini film.
  10. All 30 winners will have their image exhibited in the online exhibition in addition to a physical exhibition to be launched on 17 January 2022.
  11. These 30 images will be displayed as the One Day online exhibition and all photographers will have their name displayed with their photo, alongside the image title and any accompanying words (up to 100).
  12. These 30 images will also be used in the virtual HMD ceremony on 27 January 2022, 7 – 8pm.
  13. We are unable to provide comments or feedback on selected images, nor enter into detailed correspondence with participants. The judging panel’s decision on images that are selected will be final.
  14. HMDT will notify winners by 17 January 2022.
  15. The exhibition may be exhibited at various locations across the UK after the Commemorative Ceremony for HMD 2022. Information related to any further exhibits will be communicated by HMDT to winners at a later stage.
  16. Submission of a photograph will be deemed to constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.
