London Borough of Sutton Holocaust Memorial Day 2019

Activity information

Activity type: Public activity

Organisation name: London Borough of Sutton

Sutton Grammar School
Manor Lane
United Kingdom

The theme of this year’s London Borough of Sutton HMD event is ‘Torn from Home’. The theme encourages audiences to reflect on how the enforced loss of a safe place to call ‘home’ is part of the trauma faced by anyone experiencing persecution and genocide.

The event will be held at Sutton Grammar School and will involve students and young people from schools across the borough. We are honoured to have a survivor of the Holocaust, and a survivor of the Rwandan genocide as the guest speakers for the event. The event will be opened by The Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton and closed with a prayer and minute of silence.

The activity is free and open to all, but please email Tom Webb or Simon Breeze if you wish to attend as space is limited.
