The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust will be holding its second annual conference on Monday 30th April at the Town Hall in Leeds.

This conference will launch the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2008 which is “Imagine…” and is aimed at local event organisers including local authority representatives, teachers, youth workers, and diversity & equality activists and will offer practical support and advice in planning Holocaust Memorial Day events.

The conference includes key-note speeches by Phil Woolas MP, Minister of State for Communities and Local Government and Bob Rosner who came to Britain on the Kindertransport. The conference will also feature workshops, offering examples of best practice, advice and examining the importance of creativity in ensuring meaningful and inclusive commemorations.

Jack Gilbert – Proud Heritage
Jane Cocker – Staffordshire Schools
Jonathan Marshall – Plymouth City Council
Kim Strickson – Kirklees Council
Mel North – Brighton & Hove Council
Michelle Sweeney & Kate Brown – Fife Council
Phil Woolas MP – Minister for Communities & Local Government
Puppet Madness who will perform part of their “Bystander” play, suitable for primary children.
