The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2018 is The power of words.

This year, take part in our HMD 2018 Postcard Project and encourage your class to use their own written words to respond to the experiences of Renie Inow whose family was persecuted during the Holocaust. This is a flexible lesson plan aimed at Key Stage 2 learners, with different elements for you to choose from and deliver together as one lesson, or revisit over two sessions. This lesson plan works alongside a PowerPoint presentation. 

This lesson allows students to practice reading, writing and comprehension, and is differentiated throughout for different abilities.

Please note – Due to overwhelming response from across the UK, all of the postcards have now been sent out. However, you can still take part in the project. You can print your own postcards here. 

You could also get creative and make your own postcards, or take part by writing letters. Don’t forget to fill in the Postcard Return Form in order to receive a response message from Renie and/or Sedin.
