With 20 days to Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) we are excited to announce that our artistic commission Moving Portraits are being brought to the public in a series of large-scale projections and on big screens across the UK. These projections will contribute to the UK commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Moving Portraits features six portraits of survivors of genocide who now live in the UK, such as the above photo with child survivor of the Holocaust, Joan Salter. The portraits show the survivors in their homes, holding a photograph or object that helps them to share their story. Joan holds a photograph of her as a young child travelling to safety in America. The images feature an element of movement within a still photograph and were created by artist Will Head.
Moving Portraits will be projected onto the outside of Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank, and on Big Screens in Belfast, Bradford, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Irvine, Portsmouth and Southend-on-Sea.
If you are a venue who would like to show the portraits to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, on screens or through projections, contact Alex Murphy, Arts Coordinator - firstname.lastname@example.org - to find out more and request the files. There is no cost to receive the files.
