Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration Event - The Legacy of Hope

All attendees will listen to key note speakers talking about their hopes following tragedies or hate crimes against them. These include:- Sheri Dobrowski whose son Jody was murdered for being gay; Gee Walker whose son Anthony was murdered for being Black; Michael Shamash the Chair of the Restricted Growth Association and Lilian Black the daughter of a Holocaust Survivor.

Holocaust survivor Iby Knill will also share her experiences whilst Calderdale Interfaith Council will talk about hope from various faiths’perspectives.

Finally, Gay Abandon will perform some appropriate songs; James Morgan Nash will read a triple sonnet he has written especially for the occasion; local amateur actors will perform a very poignant short piece about an emotional letter and Rudi Leavor will chant “El Male Rachamim”

The event will be opened by the Mayor of Calderdale, closed by the Leader of the Council.

All attendees will be fed at 5.30pm before the event starts at 6.15pm.
