From Auschwitz to Ambleside II

An exhibition in the Lakes School that lies in the heart of the Lake District. The school stands on the actual site where 300 Jewish children stayed on arrival in England in 1945. The exhibition provides the background to the hostel accomodation and wartime village that used to stand near Windermere and includes photographs and images of life in and around Calgarth estate at the time the children arrived. Exhibition from 28 January until 8 February 2008. Please call school for entry details and prior appointment.
