We are screening a series of short films to mark the Holocaust Memorial Day. The theme for this year’s commemoration is ‘The Power of Words’. The event reminds us that spoken and written words from individuals, community organisations or the state can have a huge impact, whether good or bad. The words that we see and hear all around us today- online, in conversations, in newspapers- the words that we chose to use, will have an impact upon us and those around us. The event will end with an open discussion on how we can individually use words to make a difference. Postcards will be provided for attendees to write to one of the people persecuted in the film, reflecting on their experiences. Many thanks to UNISON for sponsoring the event.
