Poetry Writing Workshop for Holocaust Memorial Day
Saturday, 27 January, 2018 - 10:00 to 13:00

"..when I write I can shake off all my cares; my sorrow disappears; my spirits are revived." Anne Frank, April 1944.

This year's theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is the 'Power of Words', which explores how language has been used in the past, how it is used today and its impact. The words we use have an impact, for good and bad, upon us, those around us and the world in general.

This poetry writing workshop will give participants the chance to create pieces exploring the theme. It is facilitated by poet, Olive Broderick, whose most recent collection 'Night Divers' was pubished by Templar Poetry. Olive facilitates 'Poems on a Sunday Afternoon' in partnership with Down Arts Centre and hosts the 'Words for Castle Ward' writing group.

Places are limited to 12, and while the workshop is free, pre-booking is required.

Participants are inited to share the work from this event at a special Holocaust Memorial Day 'Poems on a Sunday Afternoon' happening at Down Arts Centre, Downpatrick, on Sunday 27 January, 2.30-430pm.
